What's new in my Chocolate Covered World

Greetings Sugar Fiends!
Yes, I've been neglecting this blog, but hopefully I can get back on track, since some fun things are happening in my chocolate covered world that are worth mentioning. OK, here I go with my latest chocolate ramblings :)

First off, I'm so excited that Fancy Flours is going to be selling my instructional chocolate decorating DVD. This was the very first place on my list to sell to, so of course I was thrilled they were interested, Yay. I LOVE this company and their selection of unique decorating products and wonderful embellishments for tasty treats. If you don't know about Fancy Flours, you really should pay them an online visit and sign up for the mail order catalog ( comes right to your doorstep several times a year, how about that? ). I always look forward to getting the catalog in the mail, which is jam packed full of great ideas. Can I just say, I want about everything they sell? oh, and just wait until you see how your items arrive, all wrapped up like little nifty presents, that Nancy, she really thinks of everything.

Seriously, Fancy Flours is top notch when it comes to bakery/ pastry needs for the home chef. Because, to be honest, a lot of baking/decorating shopping sites are rather cheesy ( and not in a good way, because I'm the first to admit, I like a bit o' cheese on occasion ). I don't know why this is, do you? If I have to see one more wedding cake that looks like it tastes as bad as it looks, I mean, enough with the flippin' fondant swags and tacky toppers already !

CHOCOLATE DECORATING CLASSES

So, I'm finally gettin' out of the gutter and goin' into the kitchen, lining up some chocolate classes in the San Francisco bay area. That's right, "Emergency Chocolate Decorating 101 " just might be coming to a hood near you ( dates & locations TBA, but It looks like East Bay & South Bay will be first on the agenda ). If you would like me to come teach at your establishment, drop me an email ...

Also working on a whimsical Willy Wonka inspired kids chocolate class for Kids Culinary Adventures ( will be offering this as a home party situation too, in the future, I hope ) . And I'll tell ya what, Chef Gigi has it goin' on ! Check out the seriously awesome culinary classes for little nippers of all ages.

Training your kids to make a gourmet dinner, or bring you a delectable all-you-can-eat breakfast in bed is money well spent I'd say. Hell, I might even have to reconsider having kids just for this reason alone, it would be much more cost effective than hiring the live-in vegan chef I have always wished for. One must think of creative ways to cut expenses these days!

IS ANYONE EVEN READING THIS DAMN BLOG ?

OK, back to the Willy Wonka inspired kids class ( aka "Willamina Wonka's Chocolate Extravaganza" ), yes, I'm most happy to say, it WILL be a lip-smackin', lollipop makin', dressin' up kinda situation.

Super excited to start teaching, let ME know if YOU want to be on MY mailing list and I'll let YOU know when I have the dates/locations set in stone. It's all very hush hush at the moment. I'm sure you understand.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST...
One last note, I really want to thank everyone who has purchased my instructional chocolate decorating DVD, The Chocolate Garden ( and if you haven't, it's available on my website www.thechocolateaddict.com ) , as some of you know, my "chocolatiering" has really just been a hobby for the last several years, but because of a re-occurring work related injury with my current video business, I've recently decided to chocolate indulge full-time ( I know, poor me ). I had planned on doing this..... ONE day, however, the all mighty Universe has kicked me in the butt, and said " it's now or never, you're not getting any younger, the chocolate world needs you and YOU need IT ", what was I to do? I'm not one to argue with the Universe, so I'm taking the advice before my bones become too brittle and I'm overcome with osteoporosis ( did I spell that right? ) and wind up in a wheel chair, wondering "what the hell have I done with my life, I still have all my teeth ! did I not eat enough sweets?'. Every little morsel helps you see, as I make this most delicate ( delicious?) transition in chocolate no man's land.

So now, all I can say is, I'm on a CHOCOLATE DECORATING ADVENTURE that knows no bounds ! That's Right !

And BTW- I'm writing this blog in a sugar deprived frenzy ( unusual for me, and I'm still not sure how it happened ), so if you see typos, and things that just plain don't make sense, you'll just have to use your imagination, it's called "creative reading" :)

xoxo !

Fancy Flours is thrilled to be offering this DVD. I watched it this week-end and ROARED with laughter! Frankly, I have never seen a more entertaining, and I do mean entertaining, "How-To" video. Kat does a masterful job demystifying how to temper chocolate and she has some splendid ideas. Can not wait for the sequel!
